Summertime Musing on Adventure
For many of us, summer vacation looms. But here is my proposal: let’s not make a habit of waiting for those two weeks a year to live lives charged with a touch of passion and derring-do. Real adventures are of the spirit, not necessarily of the flesh. Small acts of courage change the world. People on mountain tops just change the view. Why get hooked on geographical metaphors when the real thing is right in our face… everywhere we look?
It is an oft-overlooked but undeniable fact that when we begin to edge our daily lives more and more in the direction of our highest dreams, every waking hour becomes an opportunity for true adventure. Parenting. Creating a better environment at work. Or finding a way to make your work better for the environment. Wherever we stand, every day we are perched on the edge of adventure. If only we find the courage to begin.
